SVG TO DXF

# A practical guide to SVG to DXF

A quick conversion is useful. A checked conversion saves the next round of edits.

## From SVG to DXF in four steps

- 01

### Upload your SVG

Choose a file or try the sample. Your files are stored privately for 24 hours.

- 02

### Confirm dimensions

Choose millimeters or inches and confirm the physical width.

- 03

### Inspect the result

Compare source outlines and DXF geometry. Review any warnings.

- 04

### Download your DXF

Open it in your target software and confirm scale and geometry before further use.

## Supported geometry

Use vector paths and basic shapes. Nested transforms, reflection, rotation, viewBox scaling, and physical units are evaluated before export. Curves become 2D polylines in DXF R2000 (AC1015).

## Features to prepare before upload

Convert text to paths. Trace images into vectors if needed. Remove or expand clip paths, masks, filters, and external references. The converter reports unsupported features so you can adjust the original file.

## Confirm your target software

A readable DXF and a correct geometry preview are separate from a verified import in your target program. After import, measure a known edge and inspect curves and contours. Material, kerf, toolpaths, and machine settings stay in your CAD or CAM workflow.

## Questions before you convert?

Is this SVG to DXF converter free?+Yes. Guests have a daily free allowance, and accounts receive trial credits. Public payments are currently disabled.

Which SVG features are supported?+Paths, lines, polylines, polygons, rectangles (including rounded corners), circles, and ellipses are supported, with transforms and viewBox scaling. Unsupported features are reported.

Can I use the DXF for laser cutting or CNC?+The output contains 2D geometry, not machine instructions. Confirm the import, dimensions, contours, and machining settings in your own CAD or CAM software. No universal device compatibility is claimed.

Why is my SVG missing a physical size?+A viewBox or percentage width defines a coordinate system, not a physical measurement. Set the intended width in millimeters or inches before converting.

What happens to text and images?+Text, bitmap images, external references, clipping, masks, and filters are not converted into usable outline geometry. Convert text to paths in your design application first. Warnings identify skipped features.

What does curve tolerance mean?+Curves are approximated using straight segments. Tolerance sets the maximum flattening deviation in the output unit. Smaller tolerances usually increase file size and vertex count.

Does the converter fix open paths?+No. Open paths may be intentional for engraving. They are highlighted for inspection; the converter does not close, delete, or merge geometry automatically.

How long are files kept?+Server access ends 24 hours after upload. You can delete earlier. Scheduled cleanup removes stored objects; physical cleanup may finish after access expires. Copies you have already downloaded remain on your device.
